A little about Arima....
At the beginning of Kare Kano, Arima Souichirou is introduced as the number one ranked student in the freshman class. Hot on his heels in the number two spot is Miyazawa Yukino, who desperately wants the number one seed. Arima realizes that he has interest in Yukino, however she turns him down, but when he catches Yukino in a moment at home where her 'true self' is revelaled....(she's really a messy, glasses wearing, slob at home), he uses this moment as an excuse to spend more time with her....(blackmail is hell). As the two begin to spend more time together, their feelings grow and they quickly enter into a relationship.
Arima is a popular, intellegent, athletic high-schooler who seems to have all he needs in life. However he has a secret. He is really being raised by his aunt and uncle because his father is in jail and his mother abandoned him. This is a secret that he keeps from all his friends, and finally he shares it with Yukino. Arima keeps up the facade of his perfect life until his mother tries to reintegrate herself into his life. Arima then falls behind a cloud of darkness, and even starts to keep Yukino at a distance.
Despite the insecurity of his past and current life, Arima is a strong character. He is good looking, charasmatic and he has an adorable relationship with Yukino. I really adore him and his relationship with her as well as his friends, such as his best friend Asaba.
